23/7/08....Legends go down Fighting
Everyone involved in last nights Friendly between Boro and the ‘Legends’ had a fun evening in glorious weather. Two early goals from Joby Barraclough sent the younger team on their way to an 8-1 victory. A brace from James Whitley and further goals from Gary Burman , Josef Sita and Sean Raymont rounded off the evening in style.
19/7/08....Tournament invite for Boro
Malborough have been invited to take part in an 11-aside tournament at Harbertonford on Saturday 16th August. Four teams will be involved which consist of Malborough , Harbertonford , Meadowbrook and a further team to be named. It is understood that each team will play each other once in a half hour match.
14/7/08....Fixtures delayed
There was controversy tonight at the SDL Fixture meeting in Newton Abbot when Channings Wood re-election to the League was challenged. The meeting was cancelled and a new date will be scheduled much to the anger of most of the Club representitives. If Boro’s fixtures stay unchanged then the first game of the season will be an away match at Babbacombe Corries. Friendlies against South Brent Res and East Allington Res have been added to the pre-season campaign.
9/7/08......Friendly Schedule takes Shape
Malborough will kick-off their pre-season Friendlies on Tuesday 22nd July with a home fixture against Malborough Legends. The following Saturday Bristol Telephones will provide the opposition in a 2pm K.O. at Malborough. Both sides meet again the following Saturday when Boro go on Tour. On Tuesday 12th August , Boro will have a home match against Kingsbridge & Kellaton with a 6.30pm K.O. Malborough will travel to Beesands on Tuesday 19th August with a 6.30pm K.O. Two more matches are to be arranged with South Brent Res and Harbertonford Res the likely opponents.
1/7/08......Player of the Month Returns
The coming season will see a return for the ‘Player of the Month’ award. After each game players will vote for their man of the match by text to the manager and the player with most votes at the end of each month will recieve a prize.
2/6/08......Boro move up to Division Four
At the South Devon League AGM tonight it was decided that Division Seven would be scrapped and the remaining Seven Divisions would each have fourteen teams. Malborough will now play in Division Four and have four extra fixtures per season.
27/5/08....Fair Play to Boro
Malborough won the Division Five Fair Play Award for 2007/08. It is the fifth time in the last seven years that the club have won the award but unfortunately it doesn’t give Boro a route into Europe ! Malborough will find out on Monday at the Devon League AGM whether they will be playing in Division Four or Five next season.
